Bend, Stomp, Shout

This piece is based on the transformative process that Richard Dawson goes through at the start of his performance of The Ghost of a Tree. Usually marking the end of his set, his guitar is placed to one side and his body loses his previously gratitude-filled lightness. Bend, Stomp, Shout is an action directive of becoming neanderthalic in one’s self through the three processes he enhabits as he starts to perform the song. Firstly, the back is bent and the body comes closer to the ground, evoking a kind of un-evolution. Secondly, his leg comes up and down metronomically with force. Thirdly, aware of the flinging tongue and full stretched lips, words come out.
